The Crown and Sceptre, Shepherd’s Bush
The Crown and Sceptre has changed considerably since I last visited a few years ago. It’s still a Fuller’s pub but the interior has been rearranged so it’s now all one bar (there were formerly two separate rooms). The interior has been refurbished and some comfortable chairs installed.
Thai food is on offer – as it is in many Fuller’s pubs now. But my last visit was brief and I didn’t eat at the pub.
The real ale range at the Crown and Sceptre is straight Fuller’s with Chiswick, Pride and ESB available. There were no Gale’s beers and no guests – although a keg version of the London Porter was on offer. I tried the London Pride and it was in fine condition.
Considering the smartening up of the pub and the prices in some Fuller’s pubs I though that £2.90 was not too bad.
- Aside No 1.
- I did actually eat Thai food that night, not in the Crown and Sceptre but at the superb Esarn Kheaw in nearby Uxbridge Road. This family-run restaurant hasn’t changed much over the years and always delivers great food.
