Real gem of a Fuller’s pub situated by the River Thames in Hammersmith (next to Furnival Gardens). It’s also extremely close to the busy Great West Road (A4) but is sheltered from all the traffic noise.
Because of the dual carriageway approaching the Dove by car can be tricky – it’s best to walk or cycle and there is a convenient underpass under the Great West Road nearby.
The pub is tiny inside with two small bars at the front leading up the steps to a rear dining area. Beyond that there is an outside seating which directly overlooks the river. Not surprisingly on warm and sunny days the pub fills up from the rear, and it can get really busy.
The real ales are straight Fuller’s but with Gale’s Seafarers available on my last visit.
I haven’t eaten at the Dove for many years but the food always used to be good.
The tiny snug bar at the front is acknowledged to be the smallest bar in any pub in the UK. There is a plate on the wall at waist height marking the highest level of a flood some years ago.
The Dove is definitely worth a trip if you’re in the area.
