Wellesley
Address: Waterloo Station Concourse, London SE1 7ND
Telephone: No Telephone
+++ Closed – Now called The Beer House – Review of Beer House coming soon +++
Basement bar on the concourse at Waterloo (Main) railway station – it’s opposite platforms 1 – 4.
The Wellesley used to be a real dive (like many station bars) but it got a makeover a few years ago and it’s a lot smarter these days.
However you can never get away from the fact that this is a station bar and most people are only there for a short time. That said they do show sports on the TV so some people do stay for longer.
3 or 4 real ales are available – Fullers London Pride, Youngs Ordinary (Best) plus others. The beer quality is passable but not great.
Food is available but I’ve never eaten here.
If you’re in the area and have more than 10 minutes to spare then try the Hole in the Wall or the Wellington instead – both just outside the station. The Kings Arms is another good selection nearby.
