Surbiton is a town within the suburban sprawl of south-west London. It owes its existence to the coming of the railway in the 19th century when the main line from London to Portsmouth was refused permission to pass through Kingston upon Thames as originally planned. The art-deco station (built in the 1920s) is quite impressive.

Getting There

Surbiton is an important junction station on the railway and trains are readily available – both from London and other towns further out into Surrey.

The town is also on many bus routes.
