The Rake, Southwark
Tiny pub adjacent to Borough Market and Southwark Cathedral – a short walk from London Bridge stations and Borough High Street.
The Rake is always worth a trip when in the London Bridge area. But it is very popular and it’s hard to get a seat – even in the equally small patio garden that seems full in all weathers.
Its popularity is all about the cosy friendly atmosphere and the great selection of beers. There are usually 3 cask ales on at any one time chosen from a seemingly random selection. They always seem well kept. Aside from that there is an enormous selection of bottles in the fridge and a few keg craft beers.
Meals are not available at the Rake, but they do sell fabulous and enormous pork pies.
Occasional ‘Meet the Brewer’ sessions are held in the upstairs bar.
Close to the ever popular Market Porter and the New Wheatsheaf.
