The George is an historic old coaching inn close to London Bridge stations. It’s obviously one of the oldest buildings in the area and because of this attracts a lot of tourists. Not surprisingly the prices reflect that.
But the George is also extremely popular with office workers too and you’re more than likely to find people sitting at the tables outside – seemingly whatever the weather.
The various rooms inside are generally small which makes for a cosy and friendly atmosphere. On my last visit the bar staff were friendly and efficient and I didn’t have to wait long to get served. However I should point out that it’s not always like that…
The beers selection is varied and the quality is pretty good.
Food is available but I’ve never eaten here.
There are some great pub in the London Bridge area – for example the Market Porter and the Rake. The George is certainly worth an experience – if only for the spectacle. But the touristy nature of the place and the prices put me off and I seldom visit this pub.
