Lively high-ceilinged pub about 5 minutes walk east of Borough tube station.
Unlike the nearby Royal Oak, music is always part of the atmosphere at the Roebuck. But it’s not too loud and the pub has a welcoming vibe.
Obviously a traditional pub building, the interior has been modernised to create an open plan area with the bar in the middle of the pub.
A big draw at the Roebuck is the beer selection. Usually there are two real ales from the Purity Brewery of Warwickshire and Sambrooks Wandle was available on my last visit too. Some keg Meantime beers are available along with some interesting bottled varieties. The beers I’ve had here used to be well kept but the two I had on my last visit didn’t taste so great.
Food is available but I’ve never eaten here.
Sport is shown on the big screen in the upstairs bar.
