Small pub situated behind the main row of shops opposite Aldgate tube station, and right next to Aldgate bus station.
Despite its location it’s very much a locals pub and can be a little unwelcoming for those who are not regulars.
The real ale choice is a bit mainstream although the Still and Star does seem to carry whatever the current Fuller’s seasonal beer is – bizarre since this obviously isn’t a Fuller’s pub. I have found the beer quality to be variable – sometimes good and sometimes not so. Most people seem to be drinking lager in here.
The Still and Star is at its best on sunny summer lunchtimes when you can join the crowds and congregate on the spacious pavement outside by the bus station – there are even tables now.
