The Peacock is at the southern end of Minories near the large roundabout. It’s about 5 minutes walk from both Aldgate and Tower Hill tube stations.
The Peacock occupies one part of an amazing art-deco office block but unfortunately doesn’t apprat to contain a lot of history itself. However, there’s an impressive staircase up to an upstairs areathat can be booked out for parties or other social events. There are a couple of dart boards, a pool table and with a bit of notice they can bring out the football table.
There is a good selection of real ales at the Peacock and at reasonable prices. The choice often includes a good Harveys Best but otherwise can vary quite considerably. Beer ahs always seemed well kept.
Food is not generally available but they are happy for you to bring in takeaway food or sandwiches from elsewhere. Food can be provided however for pre-booked social events and catering can vary from snacks through to curry dishes.
The Peacock was previously one of my haunts when I worked in the area. You can see my earlier post at: Aldgate Lunchtime Options No3 – The Peacock
