Fine Line
Address: 1 Monument Street, London EC3R 8BG
Telephone: 020 7623 5446
Spacious and busy modern bar in the shadow of the monument called the Monument – so unsurprisingly it’s close to Monument underground station.
The interior of the Fine Line has very plain walls and wooden floors so the first thing I noticed about this place was that the sound levels were deafening with all the voices bouncing around. Conversation can be difficult in these situations but I perservered as there is a welcoming vibe to the place and the staff are efficient – both at clearing the tables and serving the crowds at the bar. And some of my friends like it.
Two real ales are available. Fuller’s London Pride seems a constant, partnered with Discovery on my last visit. There is no obvious branding, but I’m pretty sure that this is a Fullers pub. The prices are a bit steep (£3.65 for a pint of London Pride in Oct 2010) but this is the heart of the city – so you get that.
Food is available all day I think but I’ve not eaten here.
Overall the Fine Line is not bad, but not my first choice of pub in this area. I much prefer the Bell near Cannon Street station.
