The Pakenham Arms, Clerkenwell
The Pakenham Arms is a good, light and airy pub – large with a horseshoe shaped bar in the middle.Given its location close to the Mount Pleasant sorting office it’s not surprising that the pub seems full of Post Office/Royal Mail workers.
The atmosphere is lively and friendly and the pub has recently been refurbished. There are big screens for sport – I bet it would be a good place to watch the 6 Nations matches.
The beer selection has radically increased since my first visit in 2009. I think there are now at least 10 hand pumps, with a rotating selection of choices from micro-breweries.
Food is available at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is varied and reasonably priced, and the mealo I had was very good.
