Old Red Lion, Holborn
Small two room Greene King pub between Holborn and Chancery Lane tube stations – diagonally opposite the Penderels Oak.
The pub is firmly badged up as a Greene King pub and the real ale choice reflects that – expect GK IPA, Abbot and seasonal, Ruddles Best etc. However, a guest ale can intrude and the Castle Eden Harvest Pale was nice to see on my last visit – although I’ve tasted it better elsewhere.
Food is available but at lunchtimes only.
Overall though – a friendly pub with an 1980’s soundtrack and a great place to watch the world go by. For better beer though try the Penderels Oak over the road.
