Princess of Wales, Charing Cross, London

The Prince of Wales is a Nicholson’s pub in Villiers Street, just beside Charing Cross station in London. Before my last visit it had been many years since I last drank here and I’m glad to say that it’s now much improved from the distinctly average pub that it used to be.

The one-room interior is compact but there is an upstairs room with extra seating. Like many of the pubs in the area it has the feel of a station bar but it still has some character.

The usual Nicholson’s selection of real ales is available from 5 handpumps on the bar. On my last visit I had Otter Ale and it was very well kept.

Food is available from the standard Nicholson’s menu, but I’ve never eaten here.

Usefully the pub stays open until midnight most nights.
