The Boadicea, Charing Cross Station
Tiny station bar adjacent to platform 1 on the main concourse at Charing Cross station.
I had popped in prepared to dismiss the Boadicea as it used to be an awful place with rubbish beer – although that never used to stop me drinking there years ago. However, I was pleasantly surprised and happy to admit my preconceptions appeared to be wrong.
The small single-room layout could never change, but the bar is a lot smarter now and less dingy. They now actually sell good beer that tastes well-kept – Black Sheep Bitter and Fuller’s London Pride on my last visit.
The vibe is also somehow less edgy and it would now be an OK place to wait for a train – there’s even a departures board in the corner.
Sausage roll/pasty type food is available.

Thanks for the heads up Paul. Popped in last night to have a look and yes, very pricey. Didn’t bother to have a drink and instead walked down the station steps to the Princess of Wales in Villiers Street for a cheaper but quality pint.
