Hyde Tavern Photos
Collection of photos from the Hyde Tavern – a popular and excellent pub in Winchester, Hampshire. Read my full pub review of the Hyde Tavern here.

Exterior of the Hyde Tavern, Winchester
The pub is set down from the level of the pavement slightly and appears dwarfed by the adjacent buildings on Hyde Street.

The front door of the pub is on the left hand side. You’ll notice the ceilings are very low and taller visitors need to be careful with their heads – especially on the beams. The small bar is to my right as I took this picture.

Notice that as well as the three hand pumps there are a number of casks racked up behind the bar and 3 – 4 beers are served by gravity from these. Through the opening behind the bar you can see the larger back bar seating area which also overlooks the garden.

Marstons stamped into the hand pumps at the Hyde Tavern, Winchester.
Up until the late 1990s the Hyde Tavern was a Marstons pub. It became a Greene King pub when Greene King took over all the southern Marstons pubs, and now it is a free house. However these hand pumps (like many features in the pub) remain from the Marstons days.
