The Green Man is (was) a Grene King pub south of the centre of Winchester. When open it used to have a great selection of real ales – mainly guests including beers from Bowman’s and Bath Ales. But it has been closed on both my last two visits to Winchester. The future doesn’t look good, but I hope it can get some TLC soon.

The pub has received a lot of TLC and belongs to the same family as St James’s Tavern, The Corner House and the more recent sports version The Mucky Duck. Quirky decor, comfortable seating, and good local ales as well as wines and whiskeys make all of this comparable to the Black Boy. All of them are really worth a visit, as is the new wine bar from the black boy team, The Black Bottle.
NOT CLOSED!!!
