Black Boy Photos
A collection of photos of the excellent Black Boy in Winchester. Read my pub review of the Black Boy, Winchester here.

Bric-a-brac inside the Black Boy, Winchester – Taken in Dec 2003 this room no longer looks as clean and bright as this but hasn’t substantially changed.

Yes, that photograph (see top of page)… My father has got a little further through his slightly hazy Summer Lightning than I have through my Downtons Quadhop at the Black Boy, Winchester.

Hi, I just wondered what happened to the little black boy statue that used to be on the wall outside many years ago.
Just out of interest.
thanks, Bob.
Hi Bob, interesting question. I’ve never seen that statue but I’ve only really visited the Black Boy regularly in the last few years.
I did however drink at the Black Boy once or twice in early spring of 1990 when I briefly lived in Winchester but it was always in the evenings so in the dark. My house was much nearer the station and so the Black Boy was a bit of a trek. The pub then was a lot smaller and was not anything special. I don’t recall what I drank there then but I do know it wasn’t Marstons Pedigree. At that time many of the pubs in Winchester were Marstons pubs and my local (The White Swan) served a particularly fine pint of Pedigree – so I spent much of my drinking time in there.
