The Prince George, Brighton
Popular real ale pub in the North Laines area of Brighton.
The Prince George is a relative newcomer to the real ale circuit in Brighton. It is situated at the lower end of Trafalgar Street almost down to the London Road.
As you enter the pub the bar is over on the right hand side with some seating areas immediately to the right in the window. Towards the back of the pub on the left is another seating area and a smaller more secluded seating area is on the right behind the bar.
There are four or five handpumps on the bar serving predominantly local beers such as Hepworth’s and Dark Star. The beers consistently taste well kept.
Food is available and the menu is unusual in that it offers solely vegetarian dishes. The food is reasonably priced and tastes good.
I like the relaxed atmosphere of the Prince George and its friendly clientelle, and it’s now a regular addition to my Brighton pub crawl based around the station. It’s quite close to the Basketmakers Arms, and the Lord Nelson is just up the road.
