Aerial Picture of Brighton

The vibrant city of Brighton and Hove is on the south coast about 50 miles south of London. Brighton has many varied distinct areas – from the mass market seafront and pier, through the touristy and sometimes expensive Lanes, to the more bohemian and eclectic North Laines area.

The residential areas encroach right into the heart of Brighton and it’s possible to walk along quiet residential streets and be only a stone’s throw from the bustling centre.

Brighton has many, many pubs and although the seafront area has lost most of its pubs it is still possible to find parts of Brighton that boast a pub on every corner.

The Train Service

Brighton has an excellent train service – not just from London but along the Sussex coast. This makes getting there very easy and as you can see from my blog post An Evening Out in Brighton it’s quite possible to enjoy a meaningful evening in Brighton starting and ending in London. The services are mostly operated by Southern Railway but First Capital Connect operate from London to Brighton too.

Eating in Brighton

I tend to eat at pubs like the Basketmakers Arms when in Brighton these days but have often enjoyed the pasta dishes at Browns in the Lanes in the past.

Staying in Brighton

It’s many years since I’ve stayed overnight in Brighton but there are any number of hotels and bed and breakfasts to choose from. Suggest you have a look at the Visit Brighton website or the Smooth Hound website.
