Modern and sizable single-roomed bar, attached to the Harbourmaster Hotel on the quayside in Aberaeron.
The whole of the front of the room is glass and it looks out over the harbour where many yachts are moored. There are also tables outside on the street. As you enter, the bar is opposite.
There are three hand pumps hidden round the right hand side of the bar and they usually serve Welsh real ales. The house bitter is brewed by the Purple Moose brewery of North Wales, and the Purple Moose Cwrw Glaslyn I had on my last visit was superb.
Interestingly, a water jug and glass tumblers are freely available on the bar for customers to help themselves – a rare sight in a pub.
Choose your food from the selections on the (literally) enormous menus. Food is available at lunchtimes and evenings and tastes excellent. The prices are reasonable too.
My only criticism of the pub is that there is no sound deadening anywhere on the walls so the bar can get extremely loud when busy – it can be hard to follow conversations when everyone is talking louder and louder.
