Two-roomed pub and hotel on the main A482 road in the village of Pumsaint.
The pub is actually owned by the National Trust who also administer the local Dolaucothi gold mines up in the hills to the east.
On my last visit in August 2013 the pub is still being refurbed after having been shut for some years. The exterior signage is missing along with any pictures on the wall – as you can see from the photographs.
There are two separate bars with seating areas in each. Three hand pumps are present altogether. One usually serves beer from the Jacobi brewery which is located in a corner of the gold mine heritage site. The Jacobi Red Squirrel tasted very good.
Food is available at lunchtimes and in the evenings, but I’ve not eaten here.
An excellent pub. Hopefully I’ll be able to come back for a longer trip next time.
