Morrisons Beer Offers – July 2010 Update

Jul 26th, 2010 | Author: The Beeralist

This month’s Morrison’s bottled beer research was done in the store at Wokingham in Berkshire for a change.

Amazingly after my comments from last month the Wyre Piddle “Piddle in the Hole” no longer seems to be on the shelves at any price. I’m sure it’ll return though.

Two beers are priced at £1.00 this month: Firstly the J W Lees “Brewer’s Dark” I mentioned last month – a delicious dark brown ale. Shepherd Neame SpitfireJoining it this month is Shepherd Neame “Spitfire” – a popular bitter from the Kentish brewery. I’m not a big fan of Shep’s beers but I know they are popular with many. Certainly many in Wokingham as there were none left on the shelf.

Morrison's Bottled Beer Deals - July 2009

My wife came home with these earlier and they’re all £1.00 per bottle at the moment.

From the left there’s Ruddles – County, Wyre Piddle – Piddle in the Hole, Marston’s – Ashes Ale, and Holt’s – Humdinger. They’re all about 4% except for the County which is 4.7%. Some of us might remember when Ruddles County was considered quite a strong beer…

I’m drinking the Marston’s one as I post this. It’s quite light and fluffy, without a strong flavour – definitely not from the Pedigree end of the brewery! I’ve had the Humdinger and Piddle in the Hole before – both OK although I prefer the Humdinger. I’m a bit nervous about trying the County having not been partial to the draught version since it ceased to actually be made by Ruddles.

One thing I don’t understand though – why did she only get one bottle of each?
