Not to be confused with the White Hart in Whitechapel Road near Aldgate East tube, this one is at the western end of Mile End Road and is technically in Stepney although very close to Whitechapel tube station. Got all that?
It’s badged as a traditional pub and it doesn’t disappoint on that front – with the wooden floors and tables and majestic red pillars holding up the high ceiling. Large picture windows make the pub light and airy – especially on a sunny afternoon.
The ‘London Drinker’ advert which tempted me here implies that a number of real ales are available. But on my last visit the only one available was Harvey’s Sussex Best. It was quite cloudy and definitely at the end of the barrel but tasty nevertheless. Looking around the other drinkers though I think I was the only one not drinking lager.
There is no mention of food in the pub but occasional live music and sports on TV are definitely on offer.
