Spacious modern pub in the back streets of Pimlico – approx 10 mins walk from Victoria Station.
Much improved from my first visit when there was hardly any beer or atmosphere, the Cask now offers plenty of both. The pub was very busy and we were lucky to find a table.
Choosing from the bewildering selection of real ales was tricky too – there seem to be at least 10 available. Apparently there are usually a couple of Dark Star beers but most of the selections on my last visit seemed to be a hangover from the latest of their frequent ‘Meet the Brewer’ sessions. The beers seemed mostly to be from the stronger end of the scale – no apparent session beers. That said the ones we had were obviously kept well and tasted great. Takeaway containers are also available too – a great idea that should be followed by more pubs.
As well as the cask beers there are loads of other keg craft beers and a couple of fridges full of bottles. According to their website they carry over 500 different bottles from the US as well as Europe and the beer menu is a substantial book – don’t forget your library card…
Food is available too but I’ve not eaten here.
Definitely worth a trip and can usefully be combined with a trip to the Speaker in Westminster which is just 10 minutes walk away.
