Non-Alcoholic Options in Pubs

Nov 21st, 2010 | Author: The Beeralist

Visiting pubs just recently has been an interesting experience as I’ve been unable to drink beer for a while because of some medicine I’m taking. This has presented me with a little bit of a challenge and has highlighted just how much alcohol consumption is taken for granted in pubs.

This post outlines my experiences of attempting a social life without the wonderful choice of real ale that I usually enjoy. Research carried out mainly in London.

New Mobile Version Has Arrived

Nov 12th, 2010 | Author: The Beeralist

In October I posted about my unhappiness with the mobile version of Good Beer, Good Pubs that I had been using for some months. Whilst the plugin that I had used was versatile and easy to setup I didn’t like the appearance and it was hard to fully control which bits of the site were visible.

Twitter Guide for Pubs – Part 1

Good Beer, Good Pubs has been using Twitter for over a year now. I tweet when I’ve found a good pub or pint or when I’ve posted a new review. I can see that some of you respond to these so thanks for that.

I also find it a great way to glean information about the things I’m interested in – including beer and pubs. Many breweries and pubs are using Twitter now – some CAMRA groups too. Pubs are advertising events and guest beers and I believe that Twitter can be another good way for pubs to connect with their customers or potential customers – important when times are tough.

As part of my day job I’ve been helping some businesses get the most out of Twitter so I though I’d share some ideas as to how pubs who do Twitter can get their tweets to get noticed (for the right reasons). I hope it helps. If it doesn’t, please tell me how it could be better.

Morrisons Beer Offers – October 2010 Update

Oct 17th, 2010 | Author: The Beeralist

Sorry to relate that once again Morrisons are not exactly spoiling the bottled beer drinkers with many special offers this month.

But our two £1 per bottle favourites are still available – that’s Lees Brewers Dark and Wyre Piddle Piddle in the Hole.

The only new one to report is Bateman’s XXB bitter which is currently priced at £1.25 a bottle. All other beers on the Morrisons shelves are the normal price.

Research done in Woking again this month.

Mobile Version Revisited

Oct 12th, 2010 | Author: The Beeralist

Back in the late spring I blogged about introducing a mobile friendly version of the Good Beer Good Pubs site. This mobile version was provided by using a plugin for WordPress – the content system that drives the site. Recently I’ve been checking the stats and I can see that although the numbers vary, something like 15% of users of this site access it from what the system thinks is a mobile device.

But I’m not happy. Mobile Version Revisited: Read the full post »
